Miriam McNamara was born in Ireland, raised in the Southern United States, and lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a child she was a voracious reader, yet never saw her own experience as a young LGBTQ+ person represented in the pages of a story. Now she writes young adult fiction that holds up a mirror for readers who have not often glimpsed their identity in the books they read, and opens a window into the queer experience for others so they might better understand it. She has an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and is the author of two award-winning queer historical novels, An Impossible Distance to Fall and The Unbinding of Mary Reade. She loves dance, pop music, adventures, small fuzzy animals, wondering at the mysteries of existence and the universe, and stories of all kinds.
